Inspired by Jared Oeser’s custom Native, French custom knife maker Sacha Thiel created his first slip joint, the Birdy, elaborating on Oeser’s design. The sleek, stylish lines of the handle look and feel great, and the modified Wharncliffe blade gives the knife an aggressive appearance and functional performance. The Viper Hug is a high quality Italian production of this custom design. This version comes with a satin finished Bohler M390 blade, two titanium bolsters with integral liners and red G10 covers.

Blade: Made from premium Bohler M390 stainless steel the modified Wharncliffe blade comes with a handsome satin finish, crowned spine and aggressive swedge at the reverse Tanto point. The full flat grind slices with ease, tackling your daily tasks from package opening to apple slicing, and the piercing tip is ideal for any precision work. Bronze washers assure the slip joint blade opens with smooth, reliable action via the nail nick.

Handle: A crowned stainless steel back spring matches the spine of the blade and is fit securely between matte gray titanium liners with two integral bolsters. The liners support handsome red G10 scales for modern performance and classic style from the bolstered design. A hole at the pommel allows for lanyard attachment.

Sheath: Carries in a stitched leather slip sheath. No pocket clip.

Bohler M390: Bohler M390 (analog to CPM-20CV and CTS-204P) is a premium powder metallurgy (PM) stainless steel with high carbide content for some of the highest edge retention and corrosion resistance, while being relatively easy to sharpen. A popular choice for high-end production and custom knives. Relatively high carbide volume and coarse microstructure gives this steel lower toughness.
