Designed by custom maker Butch Vallotton, the Spyderco Vallotton Sub-Hilt pays homage to his innovative stop pin thumb stud design feature and is the only Spyderco with both thumb studs and Round Hole opener. Dual bolsters give this knife its namesake look with a stocky build fitting of its fighter lineage. The Vallotton has a satin finished, compound ground S30V blade, brushed steel liners and bolsters and polished black G10 scales.

Blade: The 4 mm thick satin finished S30V blade rides smooth on phosphor bronze washers with ambidextrous deployment via the stop pin thumb studs or Round Hole. A flat ground tip offers added strength in piercing while the deep hollow of the primary edge makes this a powerhouse slicer.

Handle: Brushed, skeletonized steel liners support matching bolsters with polished black G10 for the scales and partial back spacer. The scales have a subtle contour for a comfortable feel while the sub-hilt design and jimped thumb ramp on the blade make for a safe, secure grip.

Carries via a 4-position, pocket clip.

CPM-S30V: A PM stainless steel developed specifically for use in knife blades, S30V has good wear resistance (edge retention) and corrosion resistance, better than 440C or 420HC. The powdered process refines the grain, improving performance for a balanced blade steel. Toughness is comparable to other PM stainless steels.
