The Spyderco SmallFly put a new spin on the classic balisong or Filipino butterfly knife. Now it is back and better than ever in the SmallFly 2. Handle construction is similar with skeletonized stainless liners and black G10 handle scales in a tradition-bucking Spyderco design that is both comfortable and secure. The SmallFly 2 is outfitted with a more utilitarian drop point blade of satin finished S30V with a full height flat grind making this a great user knife while still offering the enjoyment of bali operation.

Blade: A classic drop point blade is fully flat ground for excellent slicing and piercing capabilities. Operation is smooth thanks to robust bronze washers at the pivots while the satin finished S30V stainless steel delivers a stylish look with balanced performance. Deployment is done in traditional butterfly fashion at whatever speed is comfortable for the user. Squeeze the handle to release the spring latch and the knife is ready for use.

Handle: Skeletonized stainless steel liners support peel-ply textured black G10 handle scales for a well-balanced handle that is both comfortable and secure, capable of flipping or utility work. Subtle finger grooves and hole milling enhance security in the grip while allowing for fast transitions in the hand. The stainless latch is spring-loaded to prevent interference when operating the knife. Stainless steel Torx hardware rounds out the construction.

Carries via a 4-position, tip-up only wire clip.

CPM-S30V: A powdered stainless steel with high levels of edge retention and corrosion resistance S30V was developed specifically for use in knife blades. The powdered process gives it a very refined grain, improving the sharpness and toughness. S30V is a great, all around steel with balanced performance.
