The Cypress Trapper is a new liner lock folder from Smith & Sons made with precision by Maserin Cutlery in Maniago, Italy. The Bald Cypress is the legendary tree from the Louisiana swamps prized for its ability to weather most anything, which is personified in the Smith & Sons Cypress Trapper. It has the class, feel, and attention to detail you’d expect from the timeless Trapper pattern with modern amenities and functionality such as one-handed operation, liner lock construction and pocket clip carry. This version comes with a D2 Tool Steel blade and black burlap Micarta handle scales.

Blade: This classic Trapper clip point is fully flat ground from D2 tool steel for excellent cutting performance and good stain resistance for a non-stainless steel. It opens smoothly on phosphor bronze washers via the right-hand thumb stud for one-handed operation. The clip point tapers to a fine point for detail work while the long sweeping blade has plenty of belly for general slicing tasks. A light tumbled finish hides wear from use while providing a visually appealing look.

Handle: Contoured, durable black burlap Micarta handle scales have been attached to steel liners with stainless steel Torx hardware. The Micarta is contoured for a comfortable feel in-hand while the design offers good security and control in the hand. The pommel end of the handle curves downward to offer enhanced control and a generous hole is provided for lanyard attachment.

Carries via a right hand, tip-up, stainless steel pocket clip.

D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. D2 has a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) which gives it greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels making it semi-stainless. D2 offers a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance for a good all around knife steel.
